What is Basescan?

Basescan is the Etherscan-built block explorer for Base, Coinbase's fast-growing Ethereum layer-2. It provides the full Etherscan toolset scoped to Base: transaction and address lookup, Solidity contract verification and source viewing, token and NFT tracking, a gas tracker, analytics, and a complete API. Base has become one of the most active L2s — home to a huge volume of consumer apps, memecoins, and onchain social activity — which makes Basescan a heavily used explorer for tracing swaps, verifying newly deployed contracts, and checking token contracts before interacting with them.
