What is Hyperlane?

Hyperlane is a permissionless interoperability protocol that lets developers add cross-chain messaging to any blockchain or rollup — including new app-chains and custom rollups — without needing permission or waiting for a bridge provider to support them. Its defining feature is permissionlessness: anyone can deploy Hyperlane to connect a chain, and its modular security model (Interchain Security Modules, or ISMs) lets each application configure how its cross-chain messages are secured, from economic security to multisig to custom schemes. This makes Hyperlane especially relevant in the emerging world of many app-specific rollups and modular chains, where new networks need interoperability the day they launch. It supports asset bridging (via Warp Routes) and arbitrary messaging.
